President Donald Trump traveled to a naval base in Virginia Saturday to see off the USNS Comfort, a hospital ship loaned out by the U.S. Navy for deployment in the COVID-19 response effort.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis great ship behind me is a 70,000-ton message of hope and solidarity to the incredible people of New York,\u201d Trump said<\/a>, standing in front of the ship as it stood moored at Naval Station Norfolk. \u201cWere here for you, were fighting for you, and were with you all the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump said he was looking forward to the pending departure of the ship to New York, the hot-zone of the nations fight against the CCP virus.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho would ever think 151 countries are under attack,\u201d Trump said of the outbreak.<\/p>\n

The Epoch Times refers to the novel coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 disease, as the CCP virus<\/a> because the Chinese Communist Partys coverup and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China before it was transmitted worldwide.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are one family bound together by love and loyalty, the eternal traits so perfectly embodied by the extraordinary men and women aboard this ship,\u201d the president said of Comfort, which holds over 1,000 beds and will transport over 1,200 medical staff to help New York cope with the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n

The president said the ship would be departing ahead of schedule, adding that \u201cit is loaded up with everything, so thats great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump shared a photo of the ship on Twitter earlier, saying it was \u201cloaded to the gills.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier, the White House announced in a release that Trump would travel to Norfolk on Saturday \u201cto bid bon voyage to the hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH-20) as it leaves for New York City to the frontlines of the COVID-19 virus response. The USNS Comfort will sail well ahead of its originally scheduled departure time to answer Americas call to battle against the global pandemic here at home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly said in a Pentagon press briefing<\/a> that \u201cweve accelerated the plan for Comfort. We had originally been looking at April 3, but in all likelihood shes going to be getting underway this weekend. So hopefully shell be there in New York by the early part of next week.\u201d<\/p>\n
