Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said in a joint <a href=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/ET-J6FwXkAIWjUI?format=jpg&amp;name=900x900\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">statement<\/a> on Wednesday afternoon. \u201cThis isnt an abstract, philosophical point\u2014its an immediate, real-world problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joined by Rick Scott (R-Fla.), the four sought to amend the bill to cap unemployment benefits at 100 percent of an individuals salary before they are laid off.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" alt=\"ben sasse\" \/><figcaption><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2020\/03\/21\/ben-sasse--1200x800.jpg\" alt=\"ben sasse\" \/> Sen. (Tom Williams\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI plan to support this legislation tonight, but I do want to fix it first,\u201d said Scott (S.C.), <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/489589-senate-rejects-gop-attempt-to-change-unemployment-benefits-in-stimulus-bill\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Hill reports<\/a>. \u201cThe goal is simply to keep you whole while youre unemployed because of COVID-19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times refers to the novel coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/giving-the-right-name-to-the-virus-causing-a-worldwide-pandemic-2_3277200.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CCP virus<\/a> because the Chinese Communist Partys coverup and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China before it was transmitted worldwide.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\" \/><figcaption><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2016\/07\/15\/f988bc6d4ea24aa79f28b2e13509dc8d-1200x816.jpg\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\" \/> Sen. (AP Photo\/Alex Brandon, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The relief bill enhances unemployment benefits to the tune of an additional $600 a week over and above any state benefits, for a period of four months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has unemployment insurance on steroids,\u201d Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2020\/03\/25\/politics\/senate-stimulus-unemployment-benefits-coronavirus\/index.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said Tuesday<\/a>. \u201cBut, and most importantly, the federal government will pay your salary, your full salary for now four months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The four GOP senators argued that the agreement would reduce the incentive to work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomething hit me like a ton of bricks \u2026 Under this bill you get $23.15 an hour based on a 40-hour work week not to work,\u201d Graham said Wednesday, according to The Hill. \u201cWeve created Pandoras box for our economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\" \/><figcaption><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2020\/02\/03\/Graham-1200x782.jpg\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\" \/> Sen.
