You wont know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/schumer-appears-to-threaten-supreme-court-justices-over-abortion_3260324.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Schumer said<\/a> on March 4 in a speech to pro-abortion activists outside the Supreme Court in Washington. Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh sit on the nations highest court.<\/p>\n<p>After being admonished by Chief Justice John Roberts, Schumer claimed he was referring to Republican senators instead of the justices he named.<\/p>\n<p>Schumer \u201cprompted a crowd of left-wing activists to boo two of the associate justices, as though Supreme Court Justices were professional athletes and Sen. Schumer were jeering from the stands,\u201d McConnell said in Washington a day after the comments were made. The Republican senator then quoted the threat his Democratic counterpart made.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is nothing to call this except a threat and there is absolutely no question to whom it was directed,\u201d McConnell said. \u201cHe literally directed the statement to the justices by name and he said, quote, if you go forward with these awful decisions, which could only apply to the court itself.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2020\/03\/05\/20200205_Mitch_McConnell_CharlotteCuthbertson-2328-1200x769.jpg\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\"\/><figcaption><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2020\/03\/05\/20200205_Mitch_McConnell_CharlotteCuthbertson-2328-1200x769.jpg\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\"\/><\/figcaption><\/a> Senate Majority Leader Sen. (Charlotte Cuthbertson\/The Epoch Times)<\/figure>\n<p>McConnell said the fact the rally was outside the justices workplace contributed to the seriousness of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf any American had these words shouted at them from the sidewalk outside their office they would hear those threats as personal and most likely they would hear them as threatening or inciting violence,\u201d McConnell alleged.<\/p>\n<p>Schumers comments were \u201castonishingly reckless\u201d and \u201ccompletely irresponsible,\u201d McConnell said. He then said he agreed with Roberts, who called them dangerous. \u201cNo matter the intention, words carrying the apparent threat of violence can have horrific, unintended consequences,\u201d the Republican said.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts said in a statement on Wednesday: \u201cJustices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. All members of the Court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Schumers Response<\/h2>\n<p>Schumer was not threatening the Supreme Court justices but referring to \u201cthe political price\u201d that Republican senators \u201cwill pay\u201d for confirming Gorsuch and Kavanaugh to the court, a spokesman told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p>Responding on the Senate floor, Schumer said McConnell made a \u201cglaring omission\u201d in his speech. \u201cHe did not mention what the rally yesterday, my speech, or the case before the court was about: a womans constitutional right to choose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schumer said he was fighting for womens right to choose to get an abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel so passionately about this issue, and I feel so deeply the anger of women all across America about Senate Republicans and the court working hand-in-glove to take down Roe v. Wade,\u201d Schumer said.<\/p>\n<p>Schumer said he is \u201cangry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI should not have used the words I used yesterday. They didnt come out the way I intended to.
