{"id":141226,"date":"2020-01-24T20:10:29","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T20:10:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/von-der-leyen-calls-world-leaders-to-action-on-climate-in-davos\/"},"modified":"2020-01-24T20:10:29","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T20:10:29","slug":"von-der-leyen-calls-world-leaders-to-action-on-climate-in-davos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/von-der-leyen-calls-world-leaders-to-action-on-climate-in-davos\/","title":{"rendered":"Von der Leyen calls world leaders to action on climate in Davos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Europe has a \u201cfirst-mover advantage\u201d in the pursuit of a carbon-neutral future thanks to the European Commissions new Green Deal, Ursula von der Leyen told global political and corporate leaders at Davos on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>In a veiled response to U.S. President Donald Trumps dismissal of teenage climate protesters like Greta Thunberg at the World Economic Forum a day earlier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/trump-lashes-out-at-perennial-prophets-of-doom-on-climate\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">as \u201cprophets of doom,\u201d<\/a> the Commission president said: \u201cMost of us \u2014 not all of us but most of us, agree we need to act,\u201d citing what she called \u201coverwhelming\u201d evidence and research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe window of opportunity is rapidly closing \u2014 we have to act now.
