There are no bipartisan talks taking place about calling witnesses to testify in the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo Republicans are talking to us about deals,\u201d Schumer told reporters at a press conference in Washington.<\/p>\n

Schumer said one report, which claimed that Democrats are mulling a compromise that would include calling former Vice President Joe Bidens son Hunter Biden to testify, was \u201cfalse.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd now everyone is jumping on it,\u201d he said, referring to other outlets citing the single report and pushing the narrative.<\/p>\n

Schumer said Democrats still want four witnesses to testify, including former national security adviser John Bolton, but havent budged on not making deals.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want these four witnesses, these four sets of documents,\u201d Schumer said. \u201cNot a single Republican has approached me and said, What about this? What about that?'\u201d<\/p>\n

Some GOP members have mused about calling other witnesses, including Hunter Biden. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told reporters on Wednesday that Bidens testimony \u201cis now critical\u201d following opening arguments by House impeachment manager Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).<\/p>\n
