Lev Parnas has suspect motivations, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said in reaction to allegations made from the associate of President Donald Trumps lawyer Rudy Giuliani.<\/p>\n

\u201cHes desperate. Hes been indicted. He had to post bail. I guess he lied to them, too, about his wealth, apparently,\u201d Conway told reporters<\/a> in Washington on Thursday, responding to a question about why Parnas is coming forward now.<\/p>\n

\u201cHes desperate, and it looks like hes facing some serious criminal charges.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conway referred to the Department of Justice challenging some claims by Parnas, calling them \u201c100 percent false<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Referencing media outlets promoting former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and disgraced lawyer Michael Avenatti as solid sources, Conway told reporters to resist pushing unverified claims.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would caution people, its always [that] if theyre against Donald Trump, theyre credible, theyre legitimate. It doesnt matter if theyve been indicted, if theyre about to be indicted, Well put them on TV, well quote them, well give them accolades, attention,'\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would just caution against that, because being against Donald Trump doesnt mean you are honest or trustworthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conway said that the Trump administration is looking into past statements made by the media about Parnas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThink of what youre doing, folks\u2014honestly, youre respectable people\u2014think of what youre doing,\u201d she said. \u201cWhere its constantly, youve been berating and denigrating Rudy Giuliani for years now\u2014thats questionable itself. But now one of his associates, who I assume you would have had the same opinion about, and probably have expressed it\u2014were researching that now, that should be delicious once completed\u2014now, all of a sudden, hes the second coming. So be a little careful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parnas, 47, was charged last year with making illegal contributions to politicians and a political action committee. He pleaded not guilty<\/a> in October 2019. Giuliani has distanced himself from Parnas and said he wasnt aware of any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n

Parnas submitted documents to the House of Representatives, which released some of them this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

House Democrats said the documents are additional evidence \u201cto be included as part of the official record that will be transmitted to the Senate along with the Articles of Impeachment.\u201d The documents include phone records, texts, and flash drives.<\/p>\n
