George Holding (R-N.C.) is the latest Republican member of Congress to announce he will not seek re-election in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI should add, candidly, that yes, the newly redrawn Congressional Districts were part of the reason I have decided not to seek reelection. But, in addition, this is also a good time for me to step back and reflect on all that I have learned,\u201d Holding said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am also hopeful that, if it is part of the good lords plan, I will someday return to public office\u2014that there will be other opportunities for me to fight for the ideals and conservative principles I believe in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Holding, 51, represents North Carolinas 2nd congressional district after choosing to run in a different district after representing the states 13th congressional district from 2013 to 2017.<\/p>\n<p>North Carolinas GOP-controlled General Assembly enacted a new congressional map last month that made Holdings district more favorable to Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Mark Walker (R-N.C.) is in a similar position. After a panel of state judges ruled on Monday that the new map should be in place for the 2020 election after accusations of gerrymandering, Walker said he wasnt sure if hed run for re-election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile politicians in North Carolina rush to plant the flag of their own ambitions\u2014disregarding the people they are privileged to serve and trading constituencies like baseball cards\u2014I will continue to pray and seek clarity on Gods path forward,\u201d Walker said in a statement. \u201cFiling will remain open until December 20th and I feel no pressure to rush a decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2019\/12\/06\/rep-mark-walker.jpg\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" alt=\"rep mark walker\" \/><figcaption><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2019\/12\/06\/rep-mark-walker.jpg\" alt=\"rep mark walker\" \/><\/figcaption><\/a> Rep.
