Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) would be the first witness called as the impeachment inquiry moves forward.<\/p>\n<p>Thats according to Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), who told \u201cFox News Sunday\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/sunday-talk-shows\/472504-top-judiciary-republican-my-first-and-foremost-witness-is-adam\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">that he would like<\/a> to see Schiff\u2014the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and main architect of the inquiry into President Donald Trump\u2014testify when the Judiciary Committee effectively takes over in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first and foremost person who needs to testify is Adam Schiff,\u201d Collins said while adding that Schiff had \u201ccompared himself to a special counsel.\u201d Then-special prosecutor Ken Starr, who was involved in the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton, had testified during the House impeachment of Clinton in the late 1990s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Schiff] has put himself into that position \u2026 If he chooses not to [testify], I really question his veracity and what hes putting in his report,\u201d Collins added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIts easy to hide behind a report\u2026 but its going to be another thing to actually get up and have to answer questions about what his staff knew how he knew, what he knew about the whistleblower report,\u201d Collins said.<\/p>\n<p>The inquiry was set off by reports that an anonymous intelligence staffer filed a complaint that Trump allegedly misused his power by withholding aid to Ukraine in favor of politically advantageous investigations, which Trump and officials in Kyiv have denied. Recently, U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker told Schiffs committee that he doesnt believe there was any quid pro quo involved.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2019\/11\/08\/AdamSchiff-1200x800.jpg\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" \/><figcaption><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2019\/11\/08\/AdamSchiff-1200x800.jpg\" \/><\/figcaption><\/a> (L-R) Rep.
