{"id":138607,"date":"2019-11-23T07:40:26","date_gmt":"2019-11-23T07:40:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/michael-bloomberg-files-fec-paperwork-for-presidential-run\/"},"modified":"2019-11-23T07:40:26","modified_gmt":"2019-11-23T07:40:26","slug":"michael-bloomberg-files-fec-paperwork-for-presidential-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/michael-bloomberg-files-fec-paperwork-for-presidential-run\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Bloomberg Files FEC Paperwork for Presidential Run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg filed paperwork with the Federal Election Committee (FEC) on Thursday to declare his candidacy for president.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/pdf\/442\/201911219166072442\/201911219166072442.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the filing (pdf)<\/a>, \u201cI hereby designate the following named political committee as my Principal Campaign Committee for the 2020 election(s).\u201d It named \u201cMike Bloomberg 2020, Inc.\u201d as the committee and \u201cDemocratic Party\u201d as his affiliation.<\/p>\n<p>An aide close to the billionaire media mogul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/michael-bloomberg-2020-presidential-candidate-paperwork-filed\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told CBS News<\/a> that it \u201cis another step towards running but not a final decision or announcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg has filed to appear on the Democratic primary ballot in Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas in recent weeks. The three states hold primaries on March 3, which is known as Super Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Reports have said that he is working to get signatures to get on the ballot in Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/michael-bloomberg-to-spend-20-million-registering-voters-in-battleground-states-2019-11-21\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Associated Press reported<\/a> that Bloomberg is planning to spend about $15 million to $20 million on a voter registration drive to impede in Trumps reelection chances in five states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne campaign is a primary campaign\u2014and there are a lot of great people in that contest and a lot of focus and activity around that,\u201d his adviser, Howard Wolfson, told the AP in attempting to explain his plans. \u201cBut at the same time, theres another campaign going on that the president has begun that ends in November that also needs to be engaged.
