Former Vice President Joe Biden said it doesnt make sense to him why Republicans and President Donald Trump want his son Hunter Biden to testify in public impeachment hearings.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery single, solitary, serious investigator \u2026 looked at this and said theres absolutely zero basis to the accusation that I acted inappropriately or that my son did,\u201d Biden, a Democratic presidential candidate, told an audience during a town hall in Iowa on Nov. 11. \u201cThis is all about Trump trying to create a diversion. \u2026 Theres not a scintilla of evidence pointing out that anything is wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2018, Biden bragged that while in office in 2016, he threatened to withhold $1 billion in aid from Ukraine unless then-President Petro Poroshenko ousted Viktor Shokin<\/a>, a prosecutor who was probing Hunter Bidens employer Burisma for corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, Im telling you, youre not getting the billion dollars. I said, youre not getting the billion. Im going to be leaving here in\u2013I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: Im leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, youre not getting the money. Well, son of a [expletive]. He got fired,\u201d Biden said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the town hall on Nov. 11, the 76-year-old insisted there was no basis for Republicans to try to get his son on the stand during the public impeachment hearings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is zero rationale for that to happen,\u201d Biden said. \u201cNobody has suggested that anything was done that was inappropriate. This is all a diversion. This is classic Trump, classic Trump. Focus on the problems. We have a president who is one of the most corrupt people to serve in that office.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI released 21 years of my tax returns in detail. Mr. President, youre worried about corruption? Release some of yours!\u201d Biden added.<\/p>\n
