{"id":137555,"date":"2019-11-12T20:30:30","date_gmt":"2019-11-12T20:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/four-key-pieces-of-evidence-republicans-outline-strategy-against-impeachment-in-new-memo\/"},"modified":"2019-11-12T20:30:30","modified_gmt":"2019-11-12T20:30:30","slug":"four-key-pieces-of-evidence-republicans-outline-strategy-against-impeachment-in-new-memo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/four-key-pieces-of-evidence-republicans-outline-strategy-against-impeachment-in-new-memo\/","title":{"rendered":"Four Key Pieces of Evidence: Republicans Outline Strategy Against Impeachment in New Memo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Republican House members circulated a memo on Nov. 12 outlining \u201cfour key pieces of evidence\u201d from the impeachment inquiry against Republican President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans say the pieces of evidence undercut the claim by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that the president \u201cjeopardized U.S. national security by pressuring Ukraine to initiate politically-motivated investigations that could interfere in U.S. domestic politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The claim was made concerning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/full-transcript-of-call-between-trump-and-zelensky-released_3094727.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trumps July phone call<\/a> with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStripping away the hyperbole and hysteria, these indisputable pieces of evidence show that there was no Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors, as required by the U.S. Constitution,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/6546539-GOP-Memo.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the memo stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese facts are:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe July 25 call summary\u2014the best evidence of the conversation\u2014shows no conditionality or evidence of pressure; President Zelensky and President Trump have both said there was no pressure on the call; the Ukrainian government was not aware of a hold on U.S. security assistance at the time of the July 25 call; and President Trump met with President Zelensky and U.S. security assistance flowed to Ukraine in September 2019\u2014both of which occurred without Ukraine investigating President Trumps political rivals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have alleged Trump tried to interfere in the 2020 election by asking Zelensky to \u201clook into\u201d allegations of corruption surrounding former Vice President Joe Biden, who intervened in Ukraines political sphere by threatening to withhold $1 billion in aid unless the countrys leadership ousted a prosecutor investigating the energy company Burisma, which employed Bidens son Hunter Biden from 2014 to 2019.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2019\/09\/25\/zelensky-and-trump-1200x885.jpg\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" alt=\"zelensky speaks about phone call\" \/><figcaption><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2019\/09\/25\/zelensky-and-trump-1200x885.jpg\" alt=\"zelensky speaks about phone call\" \/><\/figcaption><\/a> President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hold a meeting in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Sept. 25, 2019.
