Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on Thursday that he is introducing a resolution to condemn the \u201cclosed-door\u201d House Democratic-led impeachment inquiry process.<\/p>\n

In an afternoon press conference<\/a>, Graham said the Senates top Republican, Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), is a co-sponsor. Forty other Senate Republicans have signed onto the measure, he said.<\/p>\n

The House is now \u201cout of bounds\u201d and is \u201cinconsistent with the process as we know it,\u201d he said, noting that Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) started an impeachment vote earlier this year that \u201cfailed miserably.\u201d<\/p>\n

House Democrats are shutting Republicans out of the impeachment inquiry process, which is \u201cat its core, un-American,\u201d he also claimed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhats going on is a run around of the impeachment process \u2026 that fundamentally\u201d ignores due process under the law, Graham said. \u201cIts a danger to the future of the presidency,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod help future presidents,\u201d Graham said.<\/p>\n

The nonbinding resolution gives Senate Republicans a chance to show support for President Donald Trump at a moment when Trump is urging his GOP allies to get tougher and fight harder for him as the House impeachment probe continues.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Graham indicated he would introduce a resolution in the Senate condemning the inquiry, saying that any articles of impeachment should be dismissed without a Senate trial.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis resolution puts the Senate on record condemning the House. \u2026 Heres the point of the resolution: Any impeachment vote based on this process, to me, is illegitimate, is unconstitutional, and should be dismissed in the Senate without a trial,\u201d Graham told Fox News Sean Hannity<\/a> earlier this week.<\/p>\n
