Republican Congressman Mike Conaway released a statement<\/a> Wednesday condemning a Democrat-run impeachment inquiry as an act of \u201cpure hatred\u201d toward the President instead of a fair and legal process.<\/p>\n

The eight-term Congressman said the Democrats initiating this inquiry are not adhering to congressional norms and are withholding critical information from GOP members.<\/p>\n

\u201cHouse Democrats, many of whom have been calling for the impeachment of this president since he was elected in 2016, have denied Republican colleagues access to critical evidence and other integral information. It is clear that their actions are motivated by pure hatred, which Speaker Pelosi herself once warned against, for this president.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conaway, who is the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Agriculture, also serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.<\/p>\n

House Republicans who share Conaways opinion, have weighed in on the impeachment inquiry. Conways statement is the latest in a whole host of remarks that question the legitimacy of the impeachment inquiry that Pelosi initiated recently.<\/p>\n

\u201c#DoNothingDemocrats have been calling for impeachment for years, and its not hard to see their true motivation,\u201d the House GOP<\/a> wrote on Twitter on Oct. 10. \u201cIts not about the facts. Its all about politics.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Democrats in Congress do not believe in the rule of law,\u201d House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) wrote on Twitter<\/a> on Oct. 9. \u201cThey are trying to discredit the democratic process by removing a duly-elected President, without any basis for impeachment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rep. Mike Kelly<\/a> (R-Penn.) wrote in an Oct. 9 tweet, \u201cImpeachment isnt a game but @HouseDemocrats<\/a> are treating it like one. Americans elected their reps to solve problems, not undo elections they cant accept. The real crime here is the political theater meant to obstruct @potus<\/a> @realDonaldTrump<\/a> & Congress from getting things done!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAn impeachment inquiry, a phrase which Speaker Pelosi and Congressional Democrats are casually tossing around, is a historically required vote taken at the start of the formal impeachment process, allowing the House Judiciary Committees impeachment investigation to begin,\u201d Conaways statement reads<\/a>. \u201cIt is not, as it is currently being used, a broad, non-binding allowance for House Democrats to allow their politically-driven whims to take them wherever it is they would like to go.\u201d<\/p>\n
