{"id":134004,"date":"2019-10-09T19:01:16","date_gmt":"2019-10-09T19:01:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/schiff-says-white-house-blocking-ambassadors-testimony-is-evidence-of-obstruction\/"},"modified":"2019-10-09T19:01:16","modified_gmt":"2019-10-09T19:01:16","slug":"schiff-says-white-house-blocking-ambassadors-testimony-is-evidence-of-obstruction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/schiff-says-white-house-blocking-ambassadors-testimony-is-evidence-of-obstruction\/","title":{"rendered":"Schiff Says White House Blocking Ambassadors Testimony Is Evidence of Obstruction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said that the White House blocking testimony from Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland was \u201cadditional strong evidence of obstruction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schiff said that Sondlands personal device, which contains texts and emails that Democrats want to read as part of the impeachment inquiry, was being withheld in addition to Sondland himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe failure to produce this witness, the failure to produce these documents, we consider [it] yet additional strong evidence of obstruction of the constitutional functions of Congress, a co-equal branch of government,\u201d Schiff told reporters in Washington on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are four issues that we are looking at, at least four issues that we are looking at, all that go to the heart of our national security. (AP Photo\/Pablo Martinez Monsivais, File)<\/figure>\n<p>Sondlands lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us-ambassador-blocked-from-testifying-to-congress-in-impeachment-inquiry-lawyer_3109756.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said earlier Tuesday<\/a> his client was told by the State Department not to appear for a deposition, a claim President Donald Trump later confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would love to send Ambassador Sondland, a really good man and great American, to testify, but unfortunately he would be testifying before a totally compromised kangaroo court, where Republicans rights have been taken away, and true facts are not allowed out for the public to see,\u201d Trump said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/1181560708808486914\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">statement on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImportantly, Ambassador Sondlands tweet, which few report, stated, I believe you are incorrect about President Trumps intentions. The President has been crystal clear: no quid pro quos of any kind.
