RT has heard different opinions on whether the method actually helps the cause.      \n<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>In hopes of boosting diversity and fighting <em>\u201cimplicit gender bias,\u201d<\/em> Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tue.nl\/en\/news\/news-overview\/17-06-2019-tue-vacancies-for-academic-staff-exclusively-for-women-for-the-time-being\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opened<\/a> permanent teaching vacancies <em>\u201cexclusively\u201d<\/em> for women in one of its programs. Men can be considered for the job only if no suitable female candidates are found in six months.<\/p>\n<p>Political activist and comedian Kate Smurthwaite welcomed the move as a solution to combat gender inequality, because the existing <em>\u201csystem is totally set up to favor men.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n<strong><em>If young women dont see women in positions of power, doing the jobs that they might want to do, it slows their progress. Without women at the top its harder for women to break through. So theyre just taking this opportunity.<\/em><\/strong>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The universitys model is one of the measures that can help women reach their <em>\u201cfull potential\u201d<\/em> without having to spend <em>\u201cso much time and energy overcoming the obstacles\u201d<\/em> female employees face in society, the activist said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/461915-uk-bans-gender-stereotypes-debate\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">                           Also on rt.com             Radical feminism or overdue reform? She believes that although the universitys methods are being put forward as a remedy against bias, they are not helpful for women and discriminate against men.
