{"id":123212,"date":"2019-06-17T00:00:28","date_gmt":"2019-06-17T00:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/electoral-bonds-worth-over-rs-5800-cr-bought-in-over-14-months\/"},"modified":"2019-06-17T00:00:28","modified_gmt":"2019-06-17T00:00:28","slug":"electoral-bonds-worth-over-rs-5800-cr-bought-in-over-14-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/electoral-bonds-worth-over-rs-5800-cr-bought-in-over-14-months\/","title":{"rendered":"Electoral bonds worth over Rs 5,800 cr bought in over 14 months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>INDORE: Electoral bonds worth over Rs 5,800 crore were bought by donors to fund <a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/political-parties\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">political parties<\/a> between March 1, 2018 and May 10, 2019, a Right to Information reply has said.<\/p>\n<p>Seventy-six per cent of these bonds, worth Rs 4,444.32 crore, were bought in the sale of last three tranches, which took place between March 1 and May 10 this year at the height of <a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/news\/elections\/lok-sabha\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lok Sabha<\/a> campaigning and polls, the RTI reply furnished by the State Bank of India said.<\/p>\n<p>As per the Union government&#039;s Electoral Bond Scheme 2018, only 29 branches of the State Bank of India (SBI) were authorised to issue and encash these bonds in ten phases.<\/p>\n<p>The reply said people bought electoral bonds worth Rs 5851.41 crore between March 1, 2018 and May 10, 2019, of which those worth Rs 1,407.09 crore were purchased by anonymous donors in the first seven phases between March 1 last year and January 24 this year.<\/p>\n<p>The RTI was filed by a Neemuch-based activist Chandrashekhar Goud.<\/p>\n<p>The bonds are valued at Rs 1000, Rs 10,000, Rs one lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs one crore.<\/p>\n<p>As per provisions of the scheme, electoral bonds may be received by political parties registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and those which have secured not less than one per cent of the votes polled in the last general of state ele<a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/markets\/bonds\/electoral-bonds-worth-over-rs-5800-cr-bought-in-over-14-months\/articleshow\/69814307.cms\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Read More \u2013 Source<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n[contf]<br \/>\n[contfnew]<br \/>\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.etimg.com\/photo\/60278104.cms\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ET Markets<\/a><\/h5>\n<p>[contfnewc]<br \/>\n[contfnewc]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INDORE: Electoral bonds worth over Rs 5,800 crore were bough..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":123214,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[202],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-123212","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-finance"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 -
