Tokyos Nikkei 225 index is up 1.1 per cent at 20,409.60.<\/p>\n<p>Ted McKinney, US under secretary of agriculture for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs, told CNBC: \u201cI think they went just fine. It&#039;s been a good one for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday evening, US President <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityam.com\/people\/donald-trump\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a> wrote on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityam.com\/company\/twitter\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a>: \u201cTalks with China are going very well!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>US officials arrived in China on Monday for the first round of talks after a 90-day truce was called on the two countries ongoing trade war.<\/p>\n<p>Trump slapped hundreds of billions of dollars of Chinese goods with import tariffs in 2018, and has made threats to ramp up the stakes even more to force Beijing to change its policy on issues such as industrial subsidies and intellectual property.<\/p>\n<p>China retaliated with tariffs of its own, sparking a trade war that has rocked global markets for months.<\/p>\n<p>The worlds two largest economies had agreed to hold \u201cpositive and constructive\u201d talks to resolve their disputes, in line with statements made by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityam.com\/people\/donald-trump\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Trump<\/a> and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blockads.fivefilters.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/blockads.fivefilters.org\/acceptable.html\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trade talks in Beijing between China and the US have conclud..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":110613,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[202],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-110612","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-finance"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 -
