The companies will host a &quot;Salute to Speed&quot; event at McLaren&#039;s Technology Centre in Woking on Dec. 11. OnePlus is <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.oneplus.com\/threads\/contest-eu-only-win-a-trip-to-the-oneplus-mclaren-launch-event.940769\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">holding a contest, for European fans only<\/a>, to attend the event.<\/p>\n<p>OnePlus has done the special edition thing before \u2014 tying in movies, other brands and sometimes just a color. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/reviews\/oneplus-6-review\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The excellent OnePlus 6<\/a> was followed by the $3,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/this-3000-oneplus-6-is-the-most-luxurious-oneplus-around\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Hadoro custom version<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/oneplus-6-has-an-avengers-edition-and-its-dope\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">an Avengers edition<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/oneplus-6-red-color-price-release-date-specs-pre-orders-availability\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">a special &quot;Red&quot; model<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/reviews\/oneplus-5t-review\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">OnePlus 5T<\/a> got the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/prepare-yourself-for-the-oneplus-5t-star-wars-phone\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Star Wars Limited Edition<\/a> treatment. The promotional materials emphasize speed, boasting that OnePlus holds claim to the &quot;world&#039;s fastest in-display fingerprint sensor on any smartphone.&quot; And the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oneplus.com\/uk\/mclaren\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">event website<\/a> also references the &quot;race to 5G&quot; \u2014 pointing out that OnePlus was &quot;first to tweet using a 5G network.&quot; The site contains no details about a forthcoming phone, however, and OnePlus did not immediately respond to our request for more information.<\/p>\n<p>Released this time last year, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/reviews\/oneplus-6t-review\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">OnePlus 6T<\/a> offers much of the same top-tier hardware as higher-priced competitors.
