Kuwait Oil Company says its facilities will not be affected by earthquake

Riyadh, (Business News Report)|| The Kuwait Oil Company said that its facilities are operating normally and have not been affected by the earthquake that struck the south of the country early Saturday.

The Kuwait Oil Company stated that the oil and gas production facilities are operating normally.

The company added: “All oil installations are equipped with sensors that operate automatically when exposed to any earthquake, as a precautionary measure and according to the safety regulations approved by the company.”

The sensors stopped working for a short period as a precautionary measure, and they all returned to work normally after taking all precautionary measures, the Kuwait Oil Company confirmed.

The Kuwait National Seismic Network at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research recorded an earthquake measuring five on the Richter scale, southwest of Ahmadi, at dawn today.

The Kuwait General Fire Service announced that the Central Operations Department did not record any damage from the earthquake.

For its part, the Public Relations and Media Department of the Fire Brigade announced that its operations department did not record any damage as a result of the earthquake that struck Kuwait at dawn on Saturday.

In a separate context, MEED magazine announced that the Kuwait Oil Company has launched a tender for a project to install pipelines to reuse treated surplus water from the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, according to what was stated in the tender documents issued by the Central Agency for Public Tenders.

A pre-tender meeting is scheduled for next Monday, while the deadline for submitting bids is set for August 21.

The magazine indicated that the Kuwait Oil Company had recently launched a tender for a project to modernize the gas and condensate network in eastern Kuwait, where a pre-tender meeting for this project is scheduled for June 13, while setting the deadline for submitting bids on August 30.

Meanwhile, informed sources said that construction work for the Kuwait Oil Company’s Jurassic 4 production facilities project, which costs $398 million, is progressing according to schedule, and the main contract is being carried out by Specto Company, as the contractor, on which the tender will be awarded in December 2021.

According to MEED, another Jurassic contract, JPF 5, worth $426 million was signed with the Chinese company Jireh in December 2021, while JPF 4 will be built near the Sabriya field in northern Kuwait, and JPF 5 will be less than 10 kilometers east of JPF 4.
