Egypt has agreed with Libya to return Egyptian workers to the Libya again, the Libyan embassy in Cairo said Saturday.
The Libyan embassy in Cairo announced on Saturday it agreed with the Egyptian Ministry of Manpower to facilitate the entry procedures for Egyptian workers to Libya.
The embassy explained that the agreement took place after a meeting concluded the implementation of a bilateral memorandum of cooperation signed in 2013 regarding the Egyptian labor in Libya, and the start of the electronic connectivity between the Libyan Ministry of Labor and its Egyptian counterpart.

The embassy stated that, last Thursday, Cairo witnessed a joint meeting between the Ministry of Labor in Libya and the Ministry of Manpower in Egypt.
The meeting aimed at providing an integrated database on the needs of the Libyan market for Egyptian workers. It also aimed at facilitating the procedures for their entry in coordination with the passports departments in the two countries.
In its statement, the embassy added that the meeting aimed at following up with the results of the meeting of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives and the Libyan Ministry of Labor delegation in Cairo, in the presence of the Chargé d’Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Cairo, Tareq Al-Hawaij.
Agreement after a break
An official Egyptian delegation visited the Libyan capital, Tripoli, at the end of last year, after a rupture in relations between the Egyptian government and the Libyan Government of National Accord.
The delegation discussed the resumption of economic relations as soon as possible, and to activate a number of suspended agreements, including the Four Freedoms Agreement signed between the two countries in the last few years of the rule of the late Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi.
The agreement is a joint package that gives citizens of the two countries “the right to reside, work, move and own property in the two neighboring countries”.
It also provides for granting them freedom of movement and residence without the need for an entry visa, as well as the right to work and own property in each other’s country.
According to Egypt, Libya violated the agreement two years before the fall of the Gaddafi regime, after it imposed entry visas on Egyptians heading to its lands in mid-2009.
