Market Now: BSE Midcap index underperforms benchmark Sensex

NEW DELHI: The BSE Midcap index was underperforming benchmark Sensex during Thursday's trade.

The BSE Midcap index trading 0.36 per cent down at 15,896 around 11 am (IST), while the BSE Sensex was 0.25 per cent up at 33,117. The NSE Nifty50 index was 0.24 per cent up at 10,178.

Shares of Adani Power (down 5.07 per cent), Indian Bank (down 3.25 per cent), Natco Pharma (down 2.65 per cent), PNB Housing Finance (down 2.57 per cent), IDBI Bank (down 2.27 per cent), LIC Housing Finance (down 1.94 per cent), Housing and Urban Development Corporation (down 1.94 per cent), Canara Bank (down 1.88 per cent), RBL Bank (down 1.72 per cent), Biocon (down 1.66 per cent), Bharat Electronics (down 1.45 per cent) and Adani Enterprises (down 1.39 per cent) were among the top losers in the BSE Midcap index.

However, shares of Amara Raja Batteries (up 1.93 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 1.85 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech (up 1.70 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure (up 1.38 per cent), Godrej Industries (up 1.38 per cent), Oberoi Realty (up 1.11 per cent), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (up 1.01 per cent)

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank and HDFC were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

However, YES Bank, Sun Pharma and Tata Motors were among the top losers in the Sensex kitty of stocks.
