Donald Trump ‘wants Ivanka out of the White House’
President Trump wants his daughter to leave her role as senior White House adviser because of bad publicity surrounding her husband, it was claimed.
Mr Trump is said to have questioned whether ‘First Daughter’ Ivanka and husband Jared Kushner should quit Washington and return to New York.
He was reportedly angered by growing scrutiny over Kushner’s alleged links to Russia, as well as growing questions about his family’s property development business.
The couple – nicknamed ‘Jarvanka’ also faced humiliation after Kushner’s security clearance was downgraded last week, meaning he has now been barred from seeing the nation’s most important documents.
A West Wing source who spoke to AP said Trump is ‘frustrated’ by the wave of bad press generated by Kushner.
He is also said to have ‘wondered aloud’ whether they should return to their old life in Manhattan.
The whispering campaign could further hasten Jared and Ivanka’s fall from grace, with the couple at one time seen as the President’s most respected advisers.
Their liberal views were said to have helped tone down some of the ideas pushed by the evangelical Christians inside the Trump administration, including Vice President Mike Pence.
The couple are said to be furious with Trump’s Chief of Staff John Kelly over his willingness to let damaging smears about Kushner leak without correction.
Former marine Kelly is in turn said to dislike the couple’s ‘freelance’ attitude, as well as their ability to steer President Trump into changing his mind at the 11th hour.
He is even said to question what the pair do all day, with some critics claiming their appointments were nepotism, and branding Ivanka ‘First Squatter’.
Insiders have also speculated whether ‘Jarvanka’ might decide to step down from their roles voluntarily, rather than suffer any more humiliation in the press.
However, Trump is also said to be sympathetic to the couple, and publicly backed his son-in-law last month.
He said: ‘I think he’s being treated very unfairly. He’s a high quality person.’
