NEW DELHI: BSE is ready with required infrastructure to launch trading in commodities till 11:55 pm from October 1, the exchanges managing director and chief executive officer, Ashish Chauhan told ETNow on Tuesday.
The leading stock exchange is slated to launch trading in the commodity derivatives segment from October 1, and to start with, it will focus on non-agri products.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) had on December 28 last year announced that from coming October, the country would have a unified exchange regime wherein stock exchanges would be allowed to offer trading in commodities derivatives.
Chauhan further said the settlement of trades can happen in two cycles as per Sebi guidelines. This apart, there is a plan to launch stocks futures, index and options for extended trading hours.
Chauhan also welcomed NSE and SGX entering IFSC, with the index product. Last month, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Singapore Exchange (SGX) said they have resumed discussions on a potential collaboration in Gujarat's international financial services centre while the ongoing arbitration proceedings have been deferred pending outcome of the talks.
The two would jointly engage and consult relevant stakeholders on the proposed collaboration in the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City International Financial Services Centre (GIFT IFSC), said a PTI reported on July 25.
He further said BSE was confident of maintaining market share in INX and GIFT City.
